Aeronautical Engineering

Perhaps the most prestigious among all engineering courses, aeronautical engineering is the domain of specialists, with a wide scope of growth. Aerospace engineering or aeronautics as it is also called deals with the development of new technology in the field of aviation, space exploration and defence systems. It specialises in the designing, construction, development, testing, operation and maintenance of both commercial and military aircraft, spacecraft and their components as well satellites and missiles. Aeronautical engineering is one of the most popular courses in engineering. Branch of engineering that deals with study or practice of flying and navigating aircraft. Aeronautical engineers design, develop or produce new commercial or military aircraft; develop more powerful but also more eco-friendly jet engines. There are several institutes which offer aeronautical engineering courses in India. Candidates who successfully qualify all the eligibility criteria get a chance to pursue their higher studies in these institutes. Career training in aeronautical engineering can get you your dream job in a prestigious organization. Some of the elements of aeronautical engineering are :-

Aerodynamics - The study of fluid flow around objects such as wings or through objects such a wind tunnels.

Propulsion - The energy to move a vehicle through the air (or in outer space) is provided by internal combustion engines, jet engines or rockets.

Control Engineering - The study of mathematical modelling of systems and designing them in order that they behave in the desired way.

Structures - Design of the physical configuration of the craft to withstand the forces encountered during flight. Aerospace engineering aims very much at keeping structures lightweight.

Materials Science - Related to structures, aerospace engineering also studies the materials of which the aerospace structures are to built. New materials with very specific properties are invented, or existing ones are modified to imrove their performance.

Aero Elasticity - The interaction of aerodynamic forces and structural flexibility, potentially causing flutter, divergence etc.

Computer Science - Specifically concerning th edesign and programming of any computer systems on board an aircraft or spacecraft and the simulation of systems.

Aeronautical Engineering Courses imparts multi-faceted training to students in areas like manufacturing and development of aircrafts and missiles. An aeronautical engineer can also design, test and contribute to the development of advanced technologies in the field of defense and space science.

Eligibility Criteria for Aeronautical Engineering Courses

In order to pursue a B.E. or B.Tech Course in Aeronautical Engineering, one needs to qualify the higher secondary examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with a good aggregate percentage. It is also mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E.) which the IIT's conduct in January and May every year.
