The spectrum of consultancy firms has been characterised by a variety of professional backgrounds such as engineering, accounting, law and banking. It can be seen that development of this industry is largely dependent on the development trends of the country. The Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), an autonomous institution of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) of ministry of science and technology is working towards development and promotion of the consultancy profession in the country, strengthening consultancy skills and capabilities including export of services and process co-operation with other countries.

The courses on offer include MS in consultancy management, in collaboration with BITS, Pilani (two years, four semesters, contact classes at eight cities across the country). Other courses include a certificate programme in consulting skills (three months) and a certificate programme in technical consulting (three months).The last date for applying for the new batch of MS programme is June 3.
