Higher Education as an area needs a lot of improvement for India to progress. DAV Forum under the aegis of DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi organized a conference recently at India International Centre, New Delhi to initiate a thought provoking, candid dialogue on concrete measures for reinventing the system of higher education.
Over the last 123 years the DAV Organisation has set up more than 700 institutions of various disciplines. At the outset Shri Vishwanath, Chairman, DAV Forum, said that DAV fraternity has created this platform to interact with leaders, thinkers, writers, scientists, innovators, social reformers via seminars, symposia, workshops and lectures on topics related to education, science, culture and social issues. G.P. Chopra President, DAV College Managing Committee stated in his inaugural address that India’s aspirations of emerging as a major player in the global knowledge economy can be realised if the system of education is overhauled and the standard elevated. Prof. Yashpal, in his Keynote Address covered in its ambit the entire diagnosis of the malaise – from structure of the Indian education, to the examination system, to the inequities, to how a good and high-level university should e structured. Mrs. Sheetal Sharma, Secretary, DAVCMC, extended the Vote of Thanks and expressed her gratitude to the learned speakers for sharing their thought provoking and inspiring vision on higher education which led to the unbridled, candid reflection and retrospection by the participants.
