How have the DU online exams been?

Delhi University (DU) was perhaps the first among India's central institutions to conduct an online examination in June for its undergraduate science students. This was its attempt to keep up with the changing times. In all, 2500 students from 27 colleges took the exam, held at three centres - Miranda House, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and Venkateswara Colleges. The on hour exam had 50 multiple choice type questions of one mark each. Students sitting adjacent to each other got a different set of question paper.

Both students and teachers faced an entirely new kind of exam. Moreover, pamphlets explaining the entire process were circulated. Online sample papers were available at the university website which gave students the exact idea of the exam. How to attempt, skip or re-attempt a problem, an submit the paper the pamphlets expounded on everything. A timer told the examinees how much time and how many questions are left. Ankit Arora, a student from Hindu College, said, "The exam was cakewalk I felt as if U was taking part in a quiz. There was more than enough time to complete the exam and I finished my paper in just 20 minutes. I hope all the exams are changed to this format." Rajes, a faculty member from Hindu College, said "The university tried to keep the exam pattern simple... We are quite happy with the initiative as the online exam will save them a lot of time in checking the answers."
