With the perpetual growth of the Indian economy, the importance of business schools in India has increased tremendously over the years. By providing undergraduate and postgraduate degree and diploma courses in management, these business schools in India are not only offering secured employment to the Indian youth and catering to the human resource needs of various industries and services sector but also helping the Indian economy in sustaining it's growth.
The popularity of the MBA degree and diplomas has increased demand for good Business Schools in India and both the government of India and the private sector are actively participating in increasing the number and quality of education of these management colleges in India. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced the establishment of seven new IIIMs in his address to the nation on the occasion of India's 60th Independence Day.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, widely rated as India's best B-school, comes out on top. But surprise, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and IIM-Bangalore rank higher among recruiters at 2 and 3, respectively. Then, the survey finds that despite the strides made by private institutions, the government run or aided schools still dominate the Top 10 list -- only two privately run institutes make it to this list. That's largely because of four IIMs and one IIT Delhi.
The rest of the IIMs also come in the list of top ten business schools in India of various B school surveys of India. However various private sector business schools of India are also providing quality management education in India. Most of these business schools in India are concentrated in the major cities of the country. Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai are the major attractions for the students who want to pursue a career in a management college in India. Moreover the course fee of most of these management colleges in India is also very high. Therefore the challenge before the government lies in making opportunities available for talented youth of different sections of the society.
