The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore was established in 1973  on the southern edge of Bangalore to augment the management talents and resources in India. Building on the base of its highly accomplished faculty and motivated student body, IIMB has evolved into a premier centre for management education and research. The Indian Institute of Bangalore is one of the premier institutes of management education in India. IIMB focused in providing quality education in the postgraduate programs and also in research in Software, IT and insurance sector. The efforts of the qualified faculty members and motivated students have helped IIMB to earn adequate recognition. It has consistently figured among the top business schools in India in most of the domestic and International Surveys. In the 2003 edition of Wall Street Journal IIM Bangalore was the lone business school in Asia to figure in the list of top 100 global business schools. IIMB has also opened a campus in Bangalore in recent years.

Facilities at IIM Bangalore:

AT IIM B all the students are provided hostel facilities. They can utilize 24-hour Internet connectivity, intercom facility, fully automatic washing machine and other necessary facilities. Students are also provided adequate opportunity to engage in recreational activities within the campus, as it is equipped with a state of the art gymnasium, a football cricket ground, an indoor badminton court, basketball court, a tennis court and a jogger's park. IIM B also offers excellent accommodation for executives participating in various management programmes of the institute.

Courses at IIMB

IIM Bangalore offers Postgraduate Program in Management (PGP), Post Graduate Program in Software Enterprise and Management (PGSEM), Post Graduate Program in Public Policy and Management. It also offers a wide range of executive education program to fulfill the educational needs of the in-service executives.

IIM Bangalore admits around 240 students to Post Graduate program in Management (PGP). This program is of 2 yeas duration and it is one of the most sought after courses in India today. Admission t this course is made on the basis of performance of the candidates in the Common Admission Test (CAT) and an interview. The common Admission Test is generally held in mid November of every year.

The Postgraduate program in Software Enterprise Management (PGSEM) is an executive General Management Educational Program that seeks to provide education to the in-service professionals. IIM B admits around 150 candidates for this course of 2 and half years duration. Admission to the course is made on the performance of the candidates in the CAT, GMAT or a separate PGSEM test and an interview.

The Post Graduate Program of Public Policy & Management (PGPPM) is sponsored by the department of Personnel & Training, Government of India. This 2 year program is meant for mid career civil servants. In addition to these courses IIMB also offers Fellow Program in Management (FRM) that has been recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D. by the association of Indian Universities and Government of India. The FRM students need to specialize in one of the 8 areas as laid down by the institute. These areas are a) Corporate strategy and policy b) Economics and Social Sciences c) Marketing d) Organizational behavior and Human resource management e) Finance & Control f) Production & Operations Management g) Quantitative method & Information system and h) Public system & Policy.
