About IIT Delhi

Established in the year 1961, IIT Delhi is one among the seven IITs offering teachings and instructions in engineering and applied sciences at a level that is comparable to the very best ones in the world. Initially, the institute was known as College of Engineering. Later, it was declared as an Institution of National Importance under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1963, and then it was renamed as Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

IIT Delhi Infrastructure

The institute's campus spreads over an area of 320 acres. It features picturesque landscape, architecture and natural beauty, clean and wide roads, and several buildings of different stature and nature. The institute has a central library housing a huge collection of books, journals, and magazines. The complete campus area is divided into four zones:

Residential zone for students

IIT Delhi Admissions

For admission to the undergraduate courses of IIT Delhi, one needs to appear in JEE, which is regarded as one of the most competitive examinations of India. Admissions procedure for the postgraduate courses of IIT Delhi depends on the course that one wishes to study. For studying management courses, one needs to appear in the Joint Management Entrance Test, and the admission procedures for other courses may vary from department to department. For admission to M.Sc. and other post B.Sc. Programme, one needs to apper in the Joint Admission to M.Sc. (JAM).

For admission to Ph.D programmes at IIT Delhi, applications are invited in the month of March. However, there are provisions for admitting students to Ph.D./M.S. (Research programme at any time of the year.
